I shall be offering my wares for sale at the Vintage Bazaar, Corn Exchange, Devises on Saturday 31st August 2013, 9.30am to 3pm - Admission £1.
(My shop will be closed whilst I attend the fair - Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.)
Some of the items coming with me include...
A flapper style hat stand that I've made using an old doll's head that I bought at an antiques fair over the summer. I combined this with a 30's wooden candlestick, vintage fabrics and a variety of trims to make her as authentic looking as possible.
I've made a collection of 6 fairy dolls, who I have named after British wild flowers this time. Each is accompanied by a page from a damaged (beyond repair!) Observer book...
And Lesser Celandine.
This is Octavia - a one-of-a-kind large rag doll. I have dressed her in a patchwork skirt made from vintage Sanderson chintz samples.
And her cosy jacket was created from 4 pure Welsh wool tapestry place mats!
These two shabby divided boxes needed some help...
I thought they'd make sweet little display shelves in a child's room, so lined the back of each in pages from an old damaged Noddy book.
The smaller one I gave a coat of paint to first.
The little illustrations left over became greetings cards.
Sorry, no 'before' photo, but this was one of the c1930's filing drawers. Sadly it was missing one of the drawers, so I lined the inside to create the pigeon hole. I used another damaged book from my supplies for this project, again an old Observer book, this one with beautiful illustrations of British freshwater fishes.
I thought it would make a great storage item on a man's desk.
Next, two mirrors awaited their fate! ;-))
I used scraps of rare antique French fabrics to cover the tatty wooden frames.
A summery cushion is packed ready for the off too...
I used a piece of vintage hand embroidered linen as the main feature, combined with vintage fabrics and a pretty woven ribbon trim.
A flowery Sanderson fabric for a handmade hand bag...
with mother-of-pearl button.
I'll have lots of pocket-money priced items too, including these tiny kits, ideal for card making, or just to inspire.
Hope to see you there!
Before all of that, there is to be a Flea Market in Shepton Mallet on Friday. My shop will be open as usual and I'll have lots of pieces on offer both inside and out. Starts at 12 noon.
Have a lovely weekend whatever your plans,
